If the government's hypothesis was that by cutting off access to the video, the country would immediately forget that it wanted to know what was in the recording... well that seems to be about right. I haven't seen much in the papers about it, which probably means that people are no longer interested, or it was proven to be fake. A search for "youtube" on thedailystar.net wont even return any articles newer than those that detailed why it was shut down a week ago. This illustrates the strange combination of vigilance and negligance that is The Daily Star.
Recently, the news has been filled with charges and arrests associated with the BDR mutinee. It appears that some people will be paying, and that those who have been trying to hide within the country aren't doing a very good job. This has to be about the worse place to find a deserted back alley to pee (this doesn't matter because people aren't too picky here), let alone a decent hide out. There are simply people everywhere. There are no deserted plains, no caves, no isolated villages, only a few square miles of sparsely inhabited land in the south west, all of which is monitored by the military. About 250 members remain unaccounted for.
That, and of course that bit about an enormous mall catching on fire. We visited the Bashundara City mall in November I think. Apparently almost 10,000 people were in the mall at the time; what an evacuation that must have been! Luckily no one was seriously hurt and the mall is open today.
Here's something indicative of the architecture in Bangladesh: the ladder could not reach high enough to put out the 13th story blaze.
This is a picture of a restaurant in the now roasted food court with newly, morbidly appropriate name
