There was a very fun birthday party for my friend Ian this weekend, featuring some awesome live music. The band played a set of classic rock and reggae grooves before settling into a late night acoustic set. I was able to get some video on my digital camera of them jamming before they went on. I've got this one loaded onto youtube, I'm going to try and get another up soon (it takes awhile because I don't want to use a lesser format).
The amount of sound created from the two instruments is astounding. The drums are called Tabla, and they can produce sound variety that exceeds the bongos and actually mirrors the amount of "dh" sounds in the language. The string instrument I'm not so sure about, but he was equally skilled, varying his play to match the intricate rhythms of the Tabla.

And here's another one: longer, with singing
